MEBEKO recognition for medical diplomas
Your way to a Beauty2Go doctor in Switzerland
At Beauty2Go, we know that moving to a new country is a great adventure - full of anticipation, but also full of uncertainty. That's why it's important to us to make the process as simple, clear and transparent as possible.
Your diploma is recognized by the MEBEKO (Medical Professions Commission) of the FOPH (Federal Office of Public Health) and is a mandatory requirement for practicing medicine in Switzerland. The FOPH bases its assessment of foreign university degrees and further training qualifications on the bilateral agreements between Switzerland and the EU and on the EU directive on the recognition of professional qualifications.
Please note that MEBEKO recognition is no guarantee of employment with Beauty2Go and that each doctor is responsible for obtaining it. Basically there are two scenarios on the way to recognition:
First scenario
Diplomas from EU/EFTA countries
Direct recognition, if
- you are a citizen of Switzerland or an EU/EFTA country,
- your diploma complies with EU Directive 2005/36/EC or the EFTA Agreement,
- it was issued by a recognized authority in your country of origin,
- and you can prove a language level of at least B2 in an official Swiss language (German, French or Italian).
Indirect recognition, if
- your diploma has already been recognized in an EU/EFTA country,
- you are allowed to work in the country of recognition without restriction, and
- you have gained at least 3 years of clinical experience in this country or in Switzerland in the last 5 years.

Second scenario
Diplomas from third countries (non-EU/EFTA)
If your medical diploma comes from a third country, the procedure is differentiated. Here, too, there is a separate application form and specific requirements from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH):

Costs
Costs are incurred for:
- MEBEKO recognition and
- the entry in the register of medical professions (MedReg)
- Please note: the costs are not covered by Beauty2Go, but are borne in full by the respective doctor.
We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible due to the long processing times and look forward to receiving your application documents! Please also include a note on the current status of your Mebeko recognition.
Due to the sometimes very long duration of the process, we cannot always guarantee that the same vacancies will still be open at the time of your recognition.
